The Morgan dollars were originally minted from 1878 to 1904. Afterwards it was minted in 1921 and beginning again in 2021. It was the first standard silver dollar minted since the passage of the Coinage Act in 1873. Which ended the free coining of silver and the production of the Seated Liberty. The coin is named after its designer, United States Mint Assistant Engraver George Morgan. The mint mark, if present, appears on the reverse above between D and O in “Dollar”.

A majority of the Morgan dollars exist in higher grades in comparison to other series. In comparison to MS-60 to MS-63 their price is higher. However they’re incredibly rare in todays market of encapsulated coins, which make them a great investment.
